Last weekend I was in Louisiana for my dear friend Sarabeth's wedding weekend. She is a true little southern belle! A wedding weekend post to come soon! On Saturday morning, Kerri prepared some yummy biscuits while a house full of girls were getting ready for SBJ's big day!

Kerri's "little" biscuits! |
All that to say, Kerri and Paula inspired some homemade biscuits in the Crain house. Brian came home from a successful cold morning of deer hunting and concluded that biscuits and gravy made his morning complete! I used one cup of milk + 1 teaspoonful of vinegar for substitute buttermilk. Today I tried the recipe using real buttermilk when I made a batch for d-group (our small group discipleship group) and a big hardy breakfast casserole.
Here are the recipes I used at d-group:
Also I wanted to share a recipe that my late Aunt Mavis shared with me a long time ago. I have it wrote down in my little homemade cookbook I made when I was crafting/cooking back in middle school. This makes quick and easy fluffy biscuits. I've heard them called copy-cat Popeye's biscuits. Feel free to add cheese, bacon, and garlic powder/butter! Basically just mix the the biscuit mix with sour cream and then a little Sprite...a little not a lot. Then form into little biscuits or you can roll out and cut with biscuit cutters. I think the buttermilk biscuits are better suited for breakfast with mayhaw jelly or syrup on top and the sour cream biscuits go great with supper!
Anybody have any great recipes that require buttermilk...I have about half-gallon left in the fridge!
